The autumn air is crisp and fresh. The morning mist is thick, the sun struggles to shine through. Gusts of strong wind blow wistfully in every direction. Those long summer days with temperatures up to 35°c are long gone. The clock in the Southern Hemisphere has gone back. All the sudden it gets dark at 6pm. The only thing that is missing are those lovely golden autumn colours that I’m use to seeing this time a year. Instead the grass is a dry yellow as it has been most of the summer, and the trees as green as always. I’m starting to feel the need for a jacket though…
…There is nothing quite like the freedom of the open road. Get out from the hustle and bustle of the City, and just drift along the Great Ocean Road for a few days. No plan, just drive. Listening to loud music, drinking way too much coffee and admiring the views of the coastline. Just me, myself and my surfboard. Spot a couple of Kangaroos grazing on a field. Getting out of the car and into the wetsuit, that is still a bit wet from the last session. Paddling out in the line up. And just sit there on my surfboard watching the sun set in the distance and breath in the fresh salty air.
The waves of the sea helps me get back to me.
